The subway driver Szabó János is tired of conflicts, that so many other people across the town share the same name, so he decides to kill all of them, that he will be the only one left.

The story is of a veteran hussar in the Austrian army in the first half of the 19th century who sits in the village inn regaling his listeners with fantastic tales of heroism

Strange things start happening when separate twists of fate bring each of three friends, Big, Dan and Beam, into contact with three strangers – an old woman who tells prophecies, a little girl who sells garlands on the street and a young woman named Aom.

Libor is a teenager who, in a matter of minutes, finds himself transported from the exclusive world of today's wealthy elite, with its opulent villas, snobbish parties, expensive private schools, and chauffeur-driven cars, into a situation where he must fight for his life. There is no turning back from the path he embarks on. He loses everything, even his own name, but what he stands to gain is so appealing to him that he does not hesitate to take the risk.

The popular Moravanka brass band performs at the fair. Vasek Pivoňka, the bandleader of the local brass band Kulatěnky, which broke up, decides to put the band back together. The village musicians are sceptical at first, but later they start rehearsing with vigour. Standa, a Prague resident who is working in a pig farm to cure his nerves, helps them to organise the concert. He really likes Evica Kocourková, but her father keeps an eye on her. Young Šišák tries to charm the teacher Olina. Before the performance can begin, the band must succeed before the cultural committee. However, they fail to do so. The disappointed musicians play for themselves at the station and suddenly they are successful. Standa comes up with an idea how to push Kulatěnka through without the permission of the commission. A concert of Moravanka is being prepared in nearby Nechvalin.
